First Fruits Church of God
"a safe place"

"... for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety."

Psalm 4:8b

In today’s stress producing world, many people long for a place where they are free to learn and grow without life snatching pressure.

Everyone makes mistakes. Truth is … that’s how we learn. And yet, it can be difficult to be in a healthy (normal) learning situation when you are constantly bombarded by the pressure to be perfect—every time. It is a wonderful thing to do that, and our goal is never to make mistakes, but face it – we all do!

Wouldn’t it be great to be among people who understand the realities of life? Wouldn’t it be great to be with those who, while they won’t excuse laziness, they will encourage honest efforts to grow and mature as we together practice … life?

That is our goal at the First Fruits Church of God. We want to encourage people to strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives. We want to pursue great things and be a positive influence in our community. We also want to encourage the mindset that allows everyone to lighten up and enjoy life! We want to provide a safe place.

We want to provide a safe place for people to learn and mature.  All questions and doubts are welcomed (we will uncover the greatness of God together). We want to provide a safe place for people to grow (which will mean some growing pains). We want to provide a safe place for people to come together and practice living a Christ-like way of life – and if things don't go well, encourage them to keep on practicing.

We believe that the Holy Bible is the only standard by which we should live. We believe God gives us the power to overcome every obstacle in life. We also believe that Christ came to love and bring hope to people who were tired of dealing with overbearing and unyielding models of living. Jesus’ presence brings rest. Jesus’ presence brings peace. Jesus’ presence allows us to enjoy the many blessings around us and to … lighten up as we together travel this life.

We believe in dealing with things head on. We will not avoid real issues here. We will together tackle the tough areas of life and seek to rise above them. But we will get there by also reminding ourselves that we are all human and that even in our imperfections, we can have joy.

If you are perfect, get it right every day, and have no patience for the rest of us who do not, this church is not for you. But for everyone else, come and rest in the joy Christ can bring. Come and experience true unconditional love and acceptance. Come and see what God can do with a life that rests in His power – and then uses that power to joyfully walk in His ways.

You are always welcomed!
